Company of Heroes Model Exporter
Install - Configuring 3DS Max
The first thing to be aware of is that 2 of the plugin files in the mod exporter package (which are themselves not needed in the model export process) come without certain required DLLs. If when launching max, errors appear regarding the 'clamp.dlt' or 'electric.dlt' plugins, then delete these two files: (your max install folder may differ)
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3dsMax8\relic\foreign\plugins\electric.dlt
Open 3DS max, and go to the 'Customise' -> 'Customise User Interface' menu. Under the toolbars tab on the right, select 'new' and name it 'CoH Tools'. A small, blank floating toolbar will appear on the screen labelled CoH Tools. This is the toolbar that will be critical in putting new models in. On the left side of the 'Customise User Interface' rollout, select 'Main UI' from the 'Group' dropdown box and 'Relic' from the 'Category' drop down box. Drag onto the floating toolbar 'BIA Model Export', 'BIA Directory Export' and 'Creates Shaders for COH Models'. The toolbar should now be looking similar to this:

Next, save the UI scheme so that the toolbar will be available when max is started. To
do this, select save on the bottom right of the 'Customise User Interface' rollout and
save it as 'MaxStartUI'.
For the exporter to run, max has to be using Direct 3D mode. If you have not specifically
set this, then max is probably not using it. To set it, go to 'Customise' -> 'Preferences'
on the menu bar. Under the viewports tab, press the 'Select Driver' button. Select the
'Direct 3D' radio box and press 'OK'. If you have the option of Selecting which version of
DirectX you would like to use, select DirectX 9.0. This is absolutely essential and you
won't be able to export unless you are using DirectX 9.0. You will need to restart max
for the changes to take effect. If you have any problems with Direct3D, make sure you have
all the 3DS max service packs installed. Hopefully max is now fully configured and ready
for you to make some models.
